New Super Mario Bros. Wii

NSMB Wii Multiplayer Recompilation

Static recompilation of New Super Mario Bros. Wii to native ARM64, built on WiiCompiled. Runs at a full 60 fps on a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 phone, with an on-screen sideways Wii Remote, tilt and shake controls, and LAN multiplayer between phones and PCs.

Original Dev: Nintendo EAD
Port Maintainer(s): WitherBlitz

What You Need

  1. Requires the game files from your own USA disc (SMNE01, revision 1), extracted on a computer with Dolphin.

    • files/
    • sys/
    Verify Your Files (Client-Side) 100% In-Browser
Privacy guarantee: Files never leave your device. File names, headers, and checksums are checked locally in your browser.

Drag & drop file(s) here or browse from your device

Matches your files against this port's requirements and calculates SHA-256 hashes.

    File Requirements Checklist (2 required):

    • files/ (Folder requirement)
    • sys/ (Folder requirement)
  2. Target hardware: Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 or newer or equivalent (64-bit ARM64, Android 11+).

  3. Controls ready out of the box

On-screen touch controls work immediately. Physical Bluetooth and USB-C controllers are also supported.

PowerPC Ahead-of-Time Translation via WiiCompiled and Vulkan 1.1

The NSMB-Wii-Multiplayer-Recompilation project, developed and maintained by WitherBlitz (release v0.2.2), represents a revolutionary technical leap for Nintendo Wii preservation on Android. Built upon the WiiCompiled static binary recompilation framework, the project translates Nintendo EAD’s original PowerPC binary (main.dol along with its relocatable modules) ahead-of-time directly into native 64-bit ARM (aarch64) instructions. Graphics commands are translated directly into low-overhead Vulkan 1.1 render calls. Because there is no emulation hypervisor, instruction interpreter, or just-in-time (JIT) runtime compiling code on the fly, CPU execution is completely native, eliminating micro-stutters and lowering power consumption to fractions of what emulation requires.

Widescreen Field of View, Quick-Save, and Cross-Platform LAN Co-op

Rather than functioning as a bare clone of the 2009 console game, the port introduces thoughtful modernization features designed specifically for handhelds and modern mobile displays. The camera system natively accommodates ultrawide phone aspect ratios, such as 19.5:9 and 20:9, expanding the horizontal field of view to show upcoming platforms and obstacles without stretching 2D sprites or HUD elements. Mobile life quality is further improved by an automated quick-save system that triggers instantly when the application is minimized or backgrounded, ensuring players never lose progress when taking an incoming phone call. Crucially, the port incorporates cross-platform LAN multiplayer with a direct toggle on the file-select screen, enabling simultaneous four-player co-op across local Wi-Fi networks between Android phones, gaming handhelds, and personal computers.

Extracting USA Disc SMNE01 Assets Using Dolphin on PC

To configure the game, you must extract the required data from your own legally acquired USA retail Nintendo Wii disc (SMNE01, Revision 1). Place your retail disc image into Dolphin Emulator on a personal computer, right-click the title in Dolphin’s game list, select the file system extraction option, and export the root directories. Verify that you have extracted both the files/ folder and the sys/ folder, which together require approximately 1 GB of free storage. Transfer this combined folder onto your Android device. Install the ARM64 APK from GitHub Releases (which requires Android 11 or newer), open the app, and direct the storage prompt to your extracted game folder.

60 FPS on Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, Accelerometer Tilt, and Touch Layouts

Because execution runs natively on the device’s CPU cores and Vulkan 1.1 driver, hardware requirements are surprisingly modest. The project maintainer confirmed a locked, flawless 60 FPS on mid-tier silicon such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, with standard system graphics drivers (turnipRecommended: false). Input handling replicates the original sideways Wii Remote through a responsive virtual on-screen overlay, paired with direct tap-to-select touch navigation in game menus. The port links directly to your mobile device’s hardware accelerometer and gyroscope, providing intuitive physical phone tilting and shaking for Propeller Suit flight, seesaw platform balancing, and mid-air spin jumps, while fully supporting Bluetooth and USB-C physical controllers.
