Every number here comes straight from the catalog, and it updates each time the site rebuilds. So when a port gets added or a status changes, the charts change with it.

How the ports were made

There's more than one way to get an old game running natively on Android. Some teams rebuild the source code by hand, some translate the original machine code with a tool, and some start from code the studio released. Right now the biggest group is Static Recomp, with 42 ports, followed by Decompilation with 30. Not sure which is which? The glossary breaks down every type.

Where the games come from

PC leads with 62 games. A lot of PC games got their source code released or an engine recreation over the years, and those are the easiest to bring over to a phone. Console ports mostly come from decompilation and recompilation projects, which take longer.

Games by original platform

11 games came out on more than one platform and count once for each, so the bars add up to more than 134.

What you need to play

105 of 134 ports need files from a copy of the game you own, from a console disc or cartridge or from a PC install. That's how most of these work: the port is the engine, and your copy brings the art, music and levels. Only 7 are free to play from the start. The glossary explains each option, and each bar opens the catalog with that filter on.
